IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ORIGINAL CHARACTER APPLICATIONS, THOSE ARE OVER HERE.

Applications are always open, and accepted on a weekly basis, over the weekends. All applications will be on separate comments, with the header as follows:

Character Name || Canon || OU/AU || Reserved or Not Reserved

Additionally, as a mod can claim to having severe app-anxiety, we also allow those of you who are nervous as hell to post apps publicly to email them to us instead! In the subject line, put 'Character Application', so we can find you amongst all the spam. The first line of the email would be the same format as above, followed by the shenanigans below. And our email is meridianmods@gmail.com!

Clarifications

PLAYER INFO
Name: (Self-explanatory, whatever you want us to call you)
Main Journal: (Your journal, not your character journal)
Contact Info: (Email, AIM, Plurk, etc. Anywhere you'd be comfortable with us contacting you)
Played Characters: (Characters you currently have in the game, along with their versions)
AC Reminders: (While we don't expect this to be an issue, people are forgetful. And that's okay! During Activity Checks, when there are three days remaining, if you have not responded and you're not on hiatus or anything similar, we will send you a reminder through your method of choice. If you want reminders, put what means would be the most effective to get them to you - email, aim, plurk, LJ message, etc - along with the name. If you'd like to opt out, then just leave it blank, put an N, remove this part, call us names, whatever you like!)

CHARACTER INFO
Name: (Your character's name)
Age: (Their age. If their physical age differs from their mental age, this is the place to mention it!)
Species: (Are they a human, a robot, a ghost, a giant purple dinosaur?)

Series: (The TV show, video game, anime, cartoon, movie, book, comic book, webcomic, or nightmare your character comes from. If there's more than one version of your character's canon-- and these two versions are sufficiently different, specify which one you're taking them from.)
OU/AU: (We would hope you know this if you've gotten this far. This game allows for Alternate Universe characters, so here is where you'd specify that!)
Canon Point: (Where are you taking them from? After their first big adventure, after their death, after their pet hamster runs away, post-series?)

History: (You're allowed to link to a wiki for the history of OU characters! For AUs, we won't ask you for a specific amount of words or paragraphs. However, we want a good understanding of your AU. Just remember our mindset is 'longer is better', within reason. We want you to write enough for you to prove that you've really worked out your AU history well, but we won't ask you to just pad it either.)

Personality: (Again, like history. No mandatory limit, but longer is better. Especially here. The personality section is one of the two main ways to show us you know your character. Sell it to us. Prove to us that you understand your character.)

Powers: (Anything that's worth knowing. Anything at all. Can your character fly, teleport, leap tall buildings in a single bound? Does their singing attract small woodland creatures? Tell us about it! In the mod comment back to your app, we'll give you the breakdown on what powers are kept, changed, or removed, so no need to worry about writing which powers would and wouldn't work in the city.)

Weaknesses: (Again, absolutely anything that's worth knowing. Is your character deathly allergic to nuts? Does even looking at teddy bears and flowers make them fall away in a dead faint?)

Possessions: (Just a list of items the character will have when they show up. This includes weapons. Include a short description of each item and its abilities, if any. This is mostly for weapons though, since they'll fall under the same regulation as powers.)

Marking Location: (In response to your app, you'll be told if you are marked or not, but you're free to choose where your marking is, should you be marked. Self-explanatory, really.)
Miscellaneous: (Anything else you think is relevant!)

First Person: (A sample written in the first person. Action is allowed, yes, as there are no communicators in this game, but what we're looking here is for your character's voice!

Similar to history and personality, but the guidelines are much more lenient. Ten sentences is the recommended, but even as low as three is acceptable. We understand that some characters don't talk much, some almost mute with how little they speak. Hey, maybe they're actually mute! The point is that you convey your character, and if you can do it in three sentences, then hell yes!)

Third Person: (A sample written in third person. Show us your prose! Minimum 200 words.)

And there you have it!

Name: Matt
Main Journal: [livejournal.com profile] atrypical
Contact Info: E-mail: artemiswolfang [at] gmail [dot] com / AIM: demony0uko / Plurk: atrypical
Played Characters: Yomiel (OU)
AC Reminders: E-mail

Name: Spyro
Age: 12 (probably?)
Species: Dragon (Artisan Dragon)

Series: Spyro the Dragon (original series)
OU/AU: OU
Canon Point: After Year of the Dragon
History: Here (”http://spyro.wikia.com/wiki/Spyro_the_Dragon_%28character%29#Story”).
Personality:

Spyro is a brave young dragon, eager to prove his worth and smash any enemies in his way. He doesn’t like backing down from a challenge in the slightest, no matter what kind of weird minigame task is put in front of him. He’s considered a hero in the Dragon Realms, Avalar, and to some degree in the Forgotten Realms, too. To some degree, this goes to his head, but he doesn’t usually bring it up a ton. He’s quite cocky for the most part, but that might be more due to his young age than anything else. As for his priorities...

Objective 1: Collect Loot!

Okay, while loot may not be Spyro’s first priority, there’s definitely a reason Flare Elevar’s Spyro Let’s Play has that as the thread title. Spyro loves his gems, as any proper dragon should, and when enemies are standing in between him and his gems (or are transformed from gems into enemies, for that matter)... well, they just have to go, don’t they? It doesn’t matter that the treasure is usually stolen from the Dragon Realms - collecting treasure is collecting treasure. Freeing dragons, collecting talismans and orbs, or finding dragon eggs - yeah, that’s important, but treasure is awesome. This is one of the reasons Moneybags annoys him so much - he makes him pay for things! What is this nonsense?!

In terms of interpersonal relationships, Spyro makes friends fairly quickly, despite his tendency to be cocky and rude. People call on him for things - big things, like saving the world, and little things, like training a manta ray. This might be because he’s usually the most able creature in the area, but Spyro knows that if he has trouble with something there’s usually at least a few people he can call on... if he doesn’t try to charge headfirst into the problem himself. His best friend is Sparx, the dragonfly who’s his best friend and partially his protector, and the two are almost never seen apart.

Powers:
- Charging: Those horns aren’t just for show! Spyro can charge into an enemy, disarming them or just attacking them to pixel poofing death. He can also destroy objects with his charge.
- Fire breath: Well, he is a dragon! Spyro’s basic flame attack can set objects or enemies on fire. It’s best for taking down larger enemies that can’t be charged. It cannot melt metal, however.
- Jumping/gliding/hovering: Spyro can jump and glide short distances, and hover briefly to get a little extra height.
- Swimming: Spyro can swim! He can also dive, and charge underwater.
- Headbash: Spyro can leap into the air, do a somersault, and smash into the ground (or whatever he’s targeting).
- Climbing: Yes, he can climb ladders with those claws. No, I don’t know how. He can also jump off of them.
Weaknesses:
- Charging: Large enemies are too meaty for him to charge and do any damage, as a general rule.
- Fire breath: It is useless against metal.
- Jumping/gliding/hovering: He can’t fly freely outside of worlds that don’t have an abundance of magic designed for flight.
- Swimming: Spyro cannot breathe fire underwater, and he’s not terribly maneuverable underwater, either.

Spyro’s mouth gets him into trouble sometimes, too. Not everyone takes so well to his boasting (though he usually defeats them anyway).
Possessions: Nothing! What, like a dragon needs clothes?
Marking Location: His stomach.
Miscellaneous: Time to kick some Gnorc butt!

First Person:

I knew I shouldn’t have taken that left at the Dragon Shores portal...

[The purple dragon on the second level walks forward, claws clicking a little bit.]

What portal did I go through to end up here? Did someone drag me through a portal again?

[No answer? No answer. Dang. He swishes his tail expectantly.]

Come on. Professor? Hunter? Bianca? …

[He looks over his shoulder and notices something horrifying. He turns, and turns again, and then crouches low to the ground, eyes narrowed dangerously.]

Where did you take Sparx? If this is something that Gnasty did... or Ripto... or the Sorceress... I’m gonna kick your butt so hard that you won’t remember what sitting down feels like! Come on, someone give me some freaking answers! I’m ready for ya! I’ll take you on!

Third Person:

Spyro charged down the street, horns in front of him, ready to attack whatever brought him here - and brought him here without Sparx. Seriously, who the heck did they think they were? Young dragons and dragonflies were never separated, didn’t they freaking understand that?!

He stopped, spotting a ladder, and climbed up it quickly, still frustrated as heck. Reaching the top of the building, he looked out on the city. Man... it really was ruined. They weren’t kidding. It didn’t look like it was lit well, either. What he wouldn’t give for some sheep or something to torch now... but that wouldn’t bring Sparx back. Even when he wasn’t right there, he could tell Sparx was with him, but this?

This was horrible. He hated it. It wasn’t right, and he wanted to smash whoever was behind it. Tch... he’d find whatever magic was behind this place and get him back no problem. For now... he’d better watch his back. Without Sparx behind him, it would be harder to tell how dangerous an enemy was, or how much damage he’d taken. More than that, though... he missed his friend.
